About Us
Welcome to the Ghana Mission Effort!
We are a dedicated group committed to spreading the Gospel and providing essential support to communities in Ghana, West Africa. Our journey began in July 2005 when Owen Yandell, accompanied by missionary Ruth Orr, embarked on the first mission trip to Ghana. Their efforts led to the baptism of 208 souls through house-to-house Bible studies and congregational preaching.
Realizing the profound need for support in Ghana, Owen sought assistance from congregations back home. Rita Libby, a widowed member of a local congregation, was moved by Owen's presentation and offered her help, coining the name "Ghana Mission Effort." With Rita's support and the help of several dedicated ladies, Owen began sharing the mission's vision, garnering further support.
Over the years, our mission has grown significantly. We initially supported two young men, Donatus Nyaaba and Joseph Yankey, in their studies at the West Coast School of Preaching in Takoradi, Ghana. Today, we proudly support 25 preachers and manage six radio programs that reach countless individuals with the message of Christ.
In 2012, Owen invited Richard Libby to join him on a mission trip. Since then, Richard, his wife Vickie, and their family have been actively involved. Today, Richard and Vickie manage the mission's operations, ensuring the preachers' reports, financial records, and communications are maintained efficiently.
Our mission includes:

Evangelism: Conducting Bible studies and public preaching in villages, leading many to embrace Christianity.

Education: Supporting the education and training of preachers to continue spreading the Gospel.

Community Support: Providing essential resources such as songbooks, Bibles, and financial aid for healthcare and daily needs.

Widow Program: Initiated by Joseph Eshun in 2020, this program supports widows facing social stigma and neglect, offering them monthly meals, Bible studies, and medical assistance.
